It’s golden hour – that perfect moment in time right before sunset when all glows with a most spectacular spectrum of sparkling hues. Tom and I are at Matador Beach in Malibu. It is a place we treasure. There we feel at one with nature and our humanity. We lay on the sand quietly camera and iPad in hand waiting for the right shot of ocean and sky, fruit and sand, and chiaroscuro for our “Still Life With Rocky Landscape”. It is our tribute to Giorgio De Chirico’s eponymous painting from 1942. His rocky landscape was the Mediterranean. Ours – the majestic Southern California coastline. Worlds apart, yet somehow they become one as the waves crash around us nearly washing away our composition. The orange sun sinks into the ocean. We walk hand in hand in its afterglow happy to be alive.
